Peruvian Treasures

peruvian-treasures.jpg

My younger sister just got back last week from a missions trip in Peru. To my surprise, she brought me back some wonderful gifts! A hand-knit sweater (for my baby; currently in my tummy!!), a bear made from alpaca (I wish you could feel it… so soft!) and some Peruvian wool yarn. The Peruvian women knit and sell their FO’s to tourists, so Heidi had to ask one of them if she could purchase just the yarn and not a product… boy, do I feel special. Now, what to knit with it? Any ideas for a skein (not sure the yardage) of fingering weight wool?

101 Designer One-Skien Wonders: Review

Hello happy summer knitters! Yes, I’m still here. The months of May & June were far too busy for me, but I am back and ready to knit-blog!

What’s on my needles? Not much knitting progress has been made since the end of April, but I’m slowly working on a pink angora sweater (my own design), and just finished a cute little shrug for a wedding I went to on Saturday - the “Eylet Shruglet” from 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders by Judith Durant. (Pics to come!)

I purchased this book a couple of weeks ago from KnitPicks, and am glad I did! My favorite pattern was the Shruglet, but there are many more trendy little knits that will be perfect for slowly downsizing my stash. I have my eyes on a couple of great mitten patterns to start for fall, some cute caps & hats, and a few beautiful scarf & stole patterns included in the lace-weight section of the book. If you have lots of extra yarn lying around, and want bang for your buck, I’d highly recommend 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders!

I Heart Dishcloths

love-nest-dishcloth-1-small.jpg

All of the sudden, I’ve been into knitting little projects here & there rather than larger projects like sweaters. Among the most recent: slippers, dishcloths, flowers… It’s due, in part, to my busy work schedule. I also love to switch it up every now & then (in knitting and in life), so little projects are definitely a great way to fill that need.

The dishcloths above are my own pattern, “Love Nest Dischcloths”, and will be part of a set of dishcloth designs incorporating hearts that I will be selling on my soon-to-come site, Knit Pink. It’s going to work out great - once I finish the rest of the Love Nest design samples, they’ll be a part of wedding presents for cousins this summer!

I never thought I’d say this, but… I heart dishcloths. :) Especially dishcloths with hearts on them!
